A person who is suddenly stricken down from an accident that they knew would most likely occur and agreed to when they came back into this human life knows that this has happened to them for the reason of helping those left on earth.
You are assuming that we are the only one that made this decision. Think of the boy, the child. What if he decided that he was going to have an abbreviated life, wanted the benefits of having Valerie as the mother-personality for the time he was on Earth, and she agreed? Sometimes short lives are chosen when a soul wishes to accelerate its growth. We ask you to know that there are no simple answers. All lives are interconnected. This is a basic spiritual tenant. So, to ask A happen simply because of B - no, it happened because of B, B prime, C, and many other reasons. This is why planning is required before incarnation - to make sure that the life weavings benefit all for the reasons they wish to learn.

Question to Channeled [Valerie's] Higher Self: Why did the deaths occur specifically when they did and the way they did? Ans: It was agreed among all three souls that this appeared to be the time when the most growth could be triggered in all involved. Question to Channeled [Valerie's] Higher Self: That makes it sound like the souls caused the deaths of the personalities. Is that an accurate understanding? Ans: It is not that we caused the deaths, Valerie's soul explained, As an example, someone is in an accident where beyond all reasonable doubt they have survived. While in that accident, the personality could not make a decision to live or die. The soul looked and decided now is not the time. Remember, the soul and the personality, while they may feel separate, one does not fight the other. The soul does not argue with the personality, 'It's time to go,' 'No, it isn't'. You must understand that the personality is a construct.

Many accidents are planned before birth for the purposes of spiritual growth, service to others, awakening, and deeper self-knowing. Profound growth is possible not only for the person who experiences the accident but also for everyone that person touches. Ultimately, because all lives are interconnected, everyone is touched.

Question to Channeled being: For what other reasons do souls plan to have accidents? Ans: Balancing karma is a major factor. If someone has grievously injured somebody else in another lifetime, they will often make plans to be in the right place at the right time to suffer at the hands of that person. Many times there is a need for greater insight. The accident force the person to change their viewpoint, thus enabling them to have insight that had eluded them on the physical level for many lifetimes.

According to Seth, we choose our illnesses and the circumstances of our birth and death. This applies to every illness, whether it is a broken leg suffered from an accident, or an ulcer.

Those who cross over from sudden accidental death would love to be able to tell their loved ones to please use any part of their body that could be used for they are no longer that body and it does not matter to them one iota of what happens to it.
...souls often have little interest in what happens to their bodies once they are physically dead...However, many other souls want to hover around the place where they died for a few Earth days, usually until after their funerals.

their physical body is a vehicle for their spirit body while upon earth. When the time comes for them to leave the earth world, and with it their earthly body, the latter is treated as something that is for ever done with. It has become utterly useless to them. It has been cast off, and our friends are never sorry to cast it off! What then becomes of it they are not the least bit concerned. They have no reverence for it. But so many people enshroud this cast-off body with a holy solemnity to which it is not entitled. The 'dead', it would be asserted, should have a proper respect paid to them the ?dead' body should be similarly respected. Let us put the matter in another light. Who is there upon earth who has any deep respect and reverence for some old, useless, worn-out, shabby garment? It is finished and done with. Away with it, and let us see no more of it. In the spirit world we have a new garment, fresh and lovely it fits us perfectly, and it seems to our eyes faultless in form, color and mode. It suits us now as no other garment possibly could. We have fashioned it ourselves from imperishable material and by comparison with it our earthly garment was dull, drab, and dreary in color, coarse in texture, ill-fitting, perhaps, in places, and although it served its purpose among surroundings that comported with it, we have now something infinitely better. In some such words would we describe our spirit attitude to the physical body that is 'dead'.
